Why Triskaidekaphobics might be annoying:

    It plays into the hands of the superstitious.
    Judas was the 13th guest at Christ's Last Supper.
    Apollo 13 was the only failed mission sent to land men on the Moon. To this day, only 12 men walked on the Moon.
    Technology is affected by 13, many airplanes (Continental Airlines) skip the 13th aisle and buildings go from the 12th to 14th floor. There are many addresses that use the number 12A instead of 13.
    In Scandinavian lore, Loki, the god of deceit, was the 13th God.
    Because of the significance of 13, many superstitious people try to concoct a way to blame bad occurrences on the number.
    Friday the 13th is a relatively new (20th century) superstition, merging the unlucky Friday with the unlucky 13. According to Christianity, Friday is the day Adam ate the apple and the day of Jesus' crucifixion.
    Donald Dossey, Director of the Stress Management Clinic/Phobia Clinic in Asheville, N.C., claims 17-21 million Americans are afraid of Friday the 13th but just 2 million fear 13
    There are a number of people who go out of there way to embrace 13, even starting organizations based on the number. The Thirteen Club is a secret (?) society of the College of William and Mary.
    Latin countries feared Tuesday the 13th until the success of 'Friday the 13th' movies.
    Although there are only twelve tribes of Israel, some claim to be the 13th tribe (sorta like the fifth Beatle). Those are condemned as evil.
    Wiccan/Pagan Covens need 13 members to complete their circle.
    Many sports teams do not give out the #13 uniform.

Why Triskaidekaphobics might not be annoying:

    There is no logical evidence that 13 is either lucky or unlucky.
    It is a baker's dozen, pay for twelve and get one free.
    It is the age when a boy becomes a man (Bar Mitzvah) in the Jewish religion.
    It is the first number of the teens.
    All the members of Apollo 13 survived despite strong odds against it.
    The United States was founded by 13 colonies and has 13 stripes on its flag, the number of leaves of the olive branches and the number of letters in it's motto 'E Pluribus Unum.'
    Colgate College is located at 13 Oak Drive and claims it was founded 'by 13 men with 13 dollars and 13 prayers.'
    The working title for the movie 'Long Day at Camp Blood' was renamed 'Friday the 13th' and became a horror franchise.
    The Munsters lived at 1313 Mockingbird Lane.
