Other former and current players include Paul Pierce, Ricky Davis, and Antoine Walker

Why they might be annoying:

Their nickname prompts the question: 'Why aren't people making a big deal about Irish-American stereotypes in sports?'
Their leprechaun logo could encourage smoking.
They have so many retired numbers that it is hard for current Celtics to choose one.
They haven't had much Irish luck since the late-1980's.
They had two potential future stars die prematurely, Len Bias and Reggie Lewis.
During the 2003-04 season, general manager Danny Ainge felt the need to tank the team in order to rebuild, yet they still made the playoffs due to the weak Eastern Conference, meaning no lottery pick.
They were the subject of the awful movie 'Celtic Pride.'

Why they might not be annoying:

They have the most championships in the NBA with 16.
They are the only team in major North American professional sports to win eight straight championships.
When Bill Russell became a player-coach in the 1966 season, he became the first black head coach in major league professional sports.
They were the first NBA team to draft a black player (1950).
They won what was called the greatest game in NBA history, beating the Suns in triple overtime in Game 5 of the 1976 NBA Finals.
Their playoff games against the Lakers, especially the Bird - Magic match-ups of the 1980's, have become legendary.
Their 1986 team lost only once at home.
They are one of the two charter members of the NBA (the former BAA) to retain their location and nickname (the New York Knicks are the other).
Their late broadcaster, Johnny Most, is known for two of the greatest calls in NBA history: 'Havlicek steals the ball!' and 'Now there's a steal by Bird!'
