He was crabby and asocial.
He was a terrible pianist.
He married a woman he didn’t love and then cheated on her.
When his wife attempted suicide, he wrote her a letter calling her a whore.
He viciously criticized the famous composer Richard Wagner.
Some find his compositions too sleepy and boring.
A fellow composer said of his music: ‘Better not listen to it – you risk getting used to it, and then you might end up liking it.’

His music is still popular today.
Despite being a crappy pianist, he became one of the most famous piano composers in history.
He suffered from rectal cancer.
He died as Paris was being attacked by the Germans.
