Why they might be annoying:

They come from a family of twelve children.
The sisters sound exactly the same.
Many of their earlier songs are extremely difficult to find.
Despite performing together for close to 20 years, they didn't become part of mainstream music circles outside of Nova Scotia until the early 1990s.
In order to appeal to commercial audiences, they briefly changed their name to 'The Rankins.'

Why they might not be annoying:

The five older siblings got their start performing at weddings.
When three of the older siblings quit performing to focus on careers, three of the younger siblings replaced them and became the current lineup.
Despite originally being considered a celtic music group, they had success in the country genre.
John Morris sacrificed his own life by advising his son and friend to get out of the vehicle when it lost control on the highway after hitting a pile of salt (2000).
When the group reunited, the lineup featured John's daughter, Molly.
