The Resume

    (July 13, 1921-September 14, 1969)
    Born in Wetumpka, Alabama
Best known for portraying Bob Ewell in the movie 'To Kill a Mockingbird'
Appeared in over 150 movies and television shows

Why he might be annoying:

He was uncredited in most of his movie appearances.
He was stereotyped as gunmen and criminals in most of his appearances.
His character was killed five different times on 'Bonanza' and twice each on 'Perry Mason' and 'Gunsmoke'.
He was an alcoholic, and was well known for being late to his scenes.
He was so into Method acting that most of the cast of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' hated or feared him.
Brock Peters, who played Tom Robinson in 'To Kill a Mockingbird' was convinced he was racist.
He accused Gregory Peck of not knowing how to act, and they refused to speak to each other offscreen.
The scene where Ewell attacks Scout Finch and Jem Finch was real, as Anderson literally attacked Mary Badham and Phillip Alford while filming and injured them.
Despite his incredible performance as Bob E. Lee Ewell, he did only television shows for four years afterward.

Why he might not be annoying:

His sister was actress Mary Anderson, and they appeared in one movie together, 'Hunt the Man Down'.
Director Robert Mulligan hired Anderson despite being warned of his behavior, and made him make a handshake promise that he would not show up drunk or be late, and Anderson kept his promise.
Collin Wilcox, who played Bob Ewell’s daughter Mayella Ewell, said that Anderson helped her performance because he terrified her.
Defenders of Anderson say that he was so lost in his Method acting that he behaved so horribly to other cast members to maintain his character and to make them fear and hate him in return.
His last big movie, 'Little Big Man', was released after his death.
He died alone, and his family did not pay for a headstone for his grave.
Dearly Departed Tours sponsored a GoFundMe drive to place a marker on his grave over fifty years after his death.
His depiction of Bob Ewell remains one of the greatest depictions of evil in movie history.
