First fourth-generation driver in NASCAR history
Great-grandson of three-time NASCAR champion Lee Petty, grandson of Richard Petty and son of Kyle Petty
Died as a result of head trauma suffered after wrecking his Busch Series car at New Hampshire International Speedway
Competed in one Winston Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway in 2000.

Why he might be annoying:

He was killed at the age of 19.
He was going to move up to Winston Cup full-time in 2001, even though he had not yet won a race in NASCAR's lower level Busch Series.
He failed to finish his only Winston Cup start.
He broke his father's record for being the youngest driver to win on a closed racecourse (18 years, 3 months) in a hobby stock race.
He never raced against his father.

Why he might not be annoying:

Fans and drivers often remarked that he was mature for his age.
Three days after his first Winston Cup race, his great-grandfather passed away.
His father races his car in Sprint Cup today in his honor.
His remains were cremated.
Following his death, his parents founded the Victory Junction Gang, a summer camp for terminally ill children, in his memory.
The camp is an official NASCAR charity.
It took over a year after his death for NASCAR to implement head and neck restraining devices.
