Why he might be annoying:

The Lugar Center rated him as the most partisan member of the House (2018).
He claimed that the Equal Rights Amendment would discriminate against men.
He said about dealing with illegal immigrants, ‘I will do anything short of shooting them.’ (2011)
He quoted from ‘Mein Kampf’ while comparing Democrats and the media to the Nazi Party (March 26, 2019).
He continually supported Donald Trump’s unsubstantiated claims of massive vote fraud in the 2020 election.
He was the first member of the House to object to certifying Joe Biden’s victory in the Electoral College.
He riled up the crowd that would attack the Capitol by declaring, ‘Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass.’ (January 6, 2021)
After the storming of the Capitol, he claimed the rioters were members of antifa, based on a Washington Times article that the paper had retracted.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was named a ‘Taxpayer’s Friend’ by the National Taxpayers Union.
He voted to keep the Drug Enforcement Agency from prosecuting users and distributors of medical marijuana in states that had legalized it.
He underwent successful surgery for prostate cancer (2017).
When James T. Hodgkinson opened fire on the Republican team as it rehearsed for the annual Congressional Baseball Game (June 14, 2017), he used his belt to apply a tourniquet to stop the bleeding of legislative aide Zack Barth, who had been shot in the calf.
Along with Rep. Brad Wenstrup, he also provided medical assistance to Rep. Steve Scalise, who had been shot in the hip.
His name was on Hodgkinson’s list of targets.
