    She married four times, including a stint with womanizing singer Clarence Carter.
    She became an alcoholic.
    PLT's Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker helped her start her ministry.
    'Young Hearts Run Free' has been re-released in the U.K. twice and 'You Got The Love' an incredible four times.

    As a teen she formed the Jewell Gospel Trio and toured with legend Mahalia Jackson.
    Her father and first husband were abusive alcoholics.
    Her third husband became a coke headed pimp that beat her and threatened to kill her.
    She overcame her alcohol addition.
    She has hit songs in several different genres - gospel, disco, Southern soul, R&B and blues.
    'Young Hearts Run Free' reached #1 on the R&B charts in 1976 and 'You Got The Love' is a dance club staple that sold over 2 million copies.
    In 2007 she was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame.
