    (circa 1198-1252)
    Born in Mongolia
    Wife of Tolui Khan
    Mother of Kublai Khan
    Nestorian Christian
    Kerait princess
Buried in a Christian church at Gansu
Her name is sometimes spelled as ‘Sorkhokhtani’ or ‘Siyurkuktiti’.
She may have been responsible for the death of her nephew, Güyük, when he was out at war in the Middle East.
Some Europeans speculate that her uncle Wang Khan was the fabled ‘Prester John’, which the Mongols took advantage of.
Her father was killed when their people rebelled against Genghis Khan (1204).
She was respectful of other religions, and taught her sons to do the same.
Though illiterate, she valued literacy and had her sons learn a language for a specific region.
She refused to marry Güyük when her brother-in-law Ögedei requested it.
She was highly admired by many people, including those from other religions.
