The Resume

    (December 27, 1957- )
Born in Santo Tomas de Los Plantos, Mexico
    Professional boxer
    Welterweight champion from 1976-1980
    Record: 35-15
Know for his ferocious offense and (literally) bone crushing punching power

Why he might be annoying:

After losing his title to Tommy Hearns, his talent seemed to desert him and he was never again a contender for a title.
He didn't take a punch particularly well.
His winning percentage was only 70% which is not impressive for a world champion.
He was knocked out in the second round of his first fight.

Why he might not be annoying:

    His courage was unquestioned.
He actually fractured an opponent's skull one time with a right hand which wasn't even his best punch!
His left hook was one of the best in boxing history.
    He was quite handsome.
He eschewed showboating. When he fought Hearns, Tommy entered the ring with over a dozen supporters. Pipino brought two.
An amazing 31 of his 35 wins were by KO!
After retiring, he never tried to launch a comeback like so many fighters do.
Despite his aggressive fighting style, he was known and respected as a clean and gentlemanly fighter who never complained or made excuses.
