Officially separated on 30 August 1902; divorced in 1906

Why he might be annoying:

He had syphilis.
He was an alcoholic.
He married a woman twenty years his junior.
He violently raped his wife on several occasions.
He met Margaretha after she answered a newspaper ad for a mail-order bride.
He openly kept a concubine in the house, but beat his wife whenever he saw her even speaking to another man.
When Margaretha divorced him, she was awarded custody of their daughter, but he prevented her from making any contact with the child.
Margaretha would subsequently have to support herself as a semi-nude dancer - the rest is history.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was of Scottish descent.
His wife was tried and executed for espionage.
His and Margaretha's son died at the age of two (likely from poisoning).
He was married to arguably the first great sex symbol of the 20th Century.
