Why Winnipeg Maple Leafs might be annoying:

    They aren't associated with those Maple Leafs.
    They were outscored 21-8 in both games of their Stanley Cup challenge (1908).
    They were the third of three teams to challenge the Montreal Wanderers for the Stanley Cup in 1908 and lose.
    They landed their MPHL championship by default, after their rivals in Brandon and Kenora ceased operations one game into the 1908 season.
    They, along with the cross-town Shamrocks, were the only teams remaining in the MPHL for the 1907-08 season, which in turn made the two teams play each other five times.

Why Winnipeg Maple Leafs might not be annoying:

    They were the second team from Winnipeg to challenge for the Stanley Cup.
    They were the first hockey team to adopt the Maple Leafs moniker.
    They were one of the charter members of the of the Manitoba Professional Hockey League.
    They amalgamated with the Winnipeg Shamrocks to form one entity following the collapse of the MPHL.
    They were the second last team to play for the Stanley Cup in a challenge series within the same calendar year.
