Why she might be annoying:

She was the first, First Lady whose Husband ascended to the presidency without being elected president.
She may have had as many as eleven siblings.
She grew up as a wealthy Southern belle.
Her family owned slaves and she accepted slavery.
She gave birth to seven children.
She named her daughter Mary Tyler Jones Tyler.
She managed the family's finances and was not very good at it.
She was a strong believer in her Episcopalian faith.
She was so anti-Catholic she refused to allow her daughters to attend the Catholic Georgetown Academy for girls.
Because there was little notice of President John Tyler swearing in ceremony, she did not attend.
After her stroke, she spent most of her day either reading the bible or barking orders.

Why she might not be annoying:

Both of her parents died within two years of her marriage, and she inherited a small fortune.
She insisted that female slaves work only indoors.
She instilled that her children and grandchildren take full advantage of the social trappings of the presidency.
President John Tyler always sought her opinions on major decisions.
She suffered a stroke (1839).
She was the first to die while her husband was President (1842).
