Under Prime Minster Asquith, served as President of the Board of Trade (1905-1908), Chancellor of the Exchequer
(1908-1915), Minister of Munitions (1915-1916), Minister of War (1916)
Became Prime Minister at the height of the First World War (1916-1922)

Why he might be annoying:

He had what was considered radical political views.
He was a fierce nationalist Welsh, even though he was born in Manchester.
He was only 27 when he was first elected to the House of Commons (1890).
He encouraged people to break the law and defy the 1902 Education Act which required people to pay taxes for sending their kids to a school.
He introduced an Old Age Pension Act and other legislation which increased taxes in Britain ten-fold, the heavy burden of this being placed on the rich upper class.
His house was burnt down by feminists, even though he was always a supporter of women's rights, he just failed to do anything about it.
He constantly worked against his own Prime Minister, and when his dissatisfaction with Herbert Asquith's handling of the war was leaked to the press, Asquith resigned, and he became prime minister (1916).

Why he might not be annoying:

He had success in all the departments he worked in under Prime Minister Asquith, especially as Minister of Munitions, which quickly and successfully ended the arms shortage with British soldiers.
He was considered a far more capable wartime leader then Asquith.
He forced the adoption of the convoy policy upon the Admiralty, which saved Britain from the German submarine menace that could have potentially starved them.
He tried to moderate the harsh demands of French Premier George Clemenceau and the idealistic proposals of Woodrow Wilson which were thrown into the Treaty of Versailles.
He argued that the harsh provisions of the treaty would ruin Germany economically, and cause the Central Powers to fall under communist pressure, or worse, to get revenge.
He ultimately was overruled and he correctly predicted the peace earned at Versailles would only last 20 years.
He met with Adolf Hitler and in a desperate attempt tried to persuade him not to take military action in Europe (1936).
He was against the appeasement policy initiated by British officials concerning Nazi Germany.
He was one of the greatest international politicians ever to come from Wales.
