Why he might be annoying:

    He had huge ears.
    He lost in the Westchester Open to 1925 U.S. Open champion Willie Macfarlane (1930).
    His performance in match play of the PGA Championship went into decline following his success he had in the 1931 PGA Championship.
    He played in the U.S. Open but never finished higher than 8th place.
    He was hampered by back problems in the later stages which led to his golf career cut short.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He used carry bags for golfers such as Johnny Farrell and Gene Sarazen as a caddie.
    He beat Denny Shute to win the PGA Championship in his first appearance of the tournament.
    He was one of the golfers who participated in the very first Masters Tournament.
    He and Gene Sarazen are among the youngest PGA Championship winners of all time.
    He was forced to retire from his golf playing career due to being diagnosed with meningitis.
