The Resume

Owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado (opened in 1993)
Plaintiff in the landmark case, 'Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission' (2018)
Refused to design a custom wedding cake for a gay couple (July 2012)
Supreme Court ruled in his favor based on the First Amendment claims of free speech and free exercise of religion

Why he might be annoying:

He turned down a same sex couple's request to create a custom-designed cake for their wedding.
The refusal led the Colorado Civil Rights Commission to pursue legal action against him, finding him in violation of anti-discrimination law.
When he was ordered by a lower court to make cakes for same-sex couples from that point on, he said he would rather close his shop instead, saying: 'I am a follower of Jesus Christ. So you could say it’s a religious belief. I believe the Bible teaches [same-sex marriage is] not an OK thing.'
His name is the same as a seaman responsible for the sinking of The Titanic.
He feels the right to pass judgment on men who marry within their gender, while working the very manly job of baking cakes.
He was sued by Denver attorney Autumn Scardina for refusing to bake her a custom birthday cake after she said the colors and design of the cake would celebrate her transition from male to female (2019).
A judge ruled in the plaintiff's favor, stating that he violated the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act (2021).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He braved The View.
He received death threats over his refusal to service same sex weddings.
He claims to have received some support from gays and lesbians.
The blowback from the decision led Masterpiece Cakeshop to stop servicing weddings altogether, severing its business by over half.
He was accused of denying service to people based on their sexual preference, but clarified that he would have sold them a cake, but would not participate in the ceremony itself.
He probably could have won on Cake Wars (Food Network).
He drew comparisons to anti-gay clerk Kim Davis, but he lacked the zealous eccentricity to be considered a formidable foe to the LGBT community.
