U.S. Senator

The Resume

    (October 24, 1954- )
    Born in Huron, South Dakota
Birth name was Marion Michael Rounds
    Governor of South Dakota (2003-11)
US Senator from South Dakota (assumed office January 3, 2015)
    Republican

Why he might be annoying:

He said that even if Trump's refusal to disavow an endorsement from white supremacist David Duke was deliberate (and not the result of a faulty earpiece as Trump later claimed), Trump would still be a better President than any Democrat.
He was one of the first group of Senators to urge Trump to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accords.
No doubt purely coincidentally, he had received over $200,000 in campaign contributions from fossil fuel interests since 2010.
He dismissed the fourteen ethics investigations of EPA Director Scott Pruitt as 'nitpicking.'
He helped negotiate an infrastructure deal with Senate Democrats, then voted against it (2021).

Why he might not be annoying:

As governor, he created a program to provide sales tax relief on food items to residents with incomes at or below 150% of the poverty level.
He established ten research centers at state-supported universities (2010); in the first four years of the program, the centers received $59 million in federal and private funding, with an economic impact on the state estimated at $110 million.
After he admitted that the 2020 Presidential election was not stolen, Trump called him 'a jerk,' 'crazy,' 'stupid,' and 'woke.'
