She once shot a man for snoring.
She married an Native American named 'Blue Duck' for a short period of time and then married Native American and outlaw Sam Starr.
She went by her middle name Belle.
Her first child, Pearl, was born out of wedlock. Pearl was probably the daughter of Cole Younger (of the Jesse James-Younger gang).
She was Jim Reed's lover, a bank robber.
Her nickname was 'Bandit Queen.'
She was part of a group that tortured an indian into revealing where he hid $30,000 worth of gold.
She was a cattle rustler and horse thief.
She was the first female tried for a major crime by 'Hanging Judge Parker.'
She was found guilty of stealing horses and sentenced to six months (1883).
She was arrested for horse stealing but let go for lack of evidence (1886).
When Sam Starr was killed, she took up with Jim July, also an outlaw.

As a child, she attended Carthage Female Academy.
She was killed two days short of her forty-first birthday by a bushwhacker.
Woodie Guthrie wrote a ballad about her.
