St. Clair Lee's birth name was Bernard St. Clair Lee Calhoun Henderson.
They are credited with having the first #1 disco song ('Rock the Boat') and thus starting the disco era.
Their first song 'Goodfootin' tanked (1969).
'Rock the Boat' began with the ridiculous lyric 'So I'd like to know where you got the notion' obviously looking for a word to rhyme with 'Ocean.'

The Hues Corporation was a play on the name Hubert and the billion dollar 'Hughes Corporation.'
'Rock the Boat' may have been a pun, meaning rock music got its boat shaken by the upstart disco sound.
