Why he might be annoying:

    He resigned from Parliament over newspaper reports that he hired male prostitutes -- some of whom were under the legal age of consent -- who he would bring to his flat and spank or beat with a cane.
    He pleaded guilty to 'acts of gross indecency' and was fined £1,450 (May, 1987).
    After resigning his office, he spent a year collecting unemployment benefits.
    Two stores that he opened selling luxury shirts were forced into liquidation for failing to pay their VAT (value-added tax) bill (2000).

    Prime Minister John Major was a frequent customer at his shirt store.
    He was assaulted in his shop by two men in a gay-bashing incident (1992).
    He was hired by the Duke of Rutland to manage Belvoir Castle (2003).
