Directed the films 'Paternity' (1981), 'Going Berserk' (1983) and 'The Wrong Guy' (1997) and episodes of 'Seinfeld,' 'Friends,' 'Mad About You,' 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' 'Newhart' and 'Designing Women'

He is a vegan.
He was best man at the wedding of mobster Crazy Joey Gallo.
During an appearance on 'The Smothers Borthers Comedy Hour,' he delivered a mock sermon about Moses that generated the most protest calls in the show's history.
He said, 'If you have a great childhood, great marriage, and enough money, you are going to make a lousy stand up comedian.'

Early in his career, the New York Times called him a cross between Lenny Bruce and Woody Allen.
