Why he might be annoying:

He was a strike breaker, debuting on WINS during an AFTRA dispute (1958).
He still wears a very obvious toupee.
His catch phrase besides referring to his listeners as cousins is squealing 'EEEEEEEEEE!'
He feuded with New York D.J. Murray the K, who replaced him on WINS. He claimed that Murray pulled moves to take over his on-air spot.
He failed to keep recordings of his Palisades Park concerts, so they don't exist today.

Why he might not be annoying:

He became known as 'Cousin Brucie' when an elderly woman entered the WINS studio and asked him 'Hey cousin, can you give me 50¢?' He did and jokingly referred to himself as Cousin Brucie. It stuck (1959).
    He attended New York University.
He hosted rock concerts at Palisades Park which feature the biggest names in music.
He put out an on-air appeal for anyone finding Ringo's St. Christopher's medal to please return it. It was returned.
He introduced the Beatles at their Shea Stadium concert (1965).
New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani proclaimed West 52nd Street on Sixth Avenue 'Cousin Brucie Way' (1994).
Although he was joining the competition, not only did WABC allow him to broadcast a final show to say goodbye but gave him a tribute party (August 7, 1974).
He was so well liked that even his arch rival Murray the K appeared on his WABC tribute.
Although Howard Stern mocks him, he knows it is in good humor and has said that although he is not a listener of Stern, and even referred to his as a Schlock Jock, he supports his right to broadcasts and tells those who do not like him to change the channel.
He was President of Variety, The Children's Charity.
He appears on fund raising events for PBS 'Doo-wop' shows.
