Why he might be annoying:

Marcia Strassman who portrayed his wife on 'Welcome Back, Kotter' threatened to quit many times because she felt he was obnoxious.
He insisted on doing some standup type jokes at the end of each 'Welcome Back Kotter' episode.
In high school he was in remedial classes.
He hoped to become a baseball player but only made it to the minors.
He is a professional poker player.

His series 'Welcome Back Kotter' is loosely based on his high school years.
He twice won The Super Bowl of Poker and the Commerce Club's Low Ball Tournament.
He was a huge fan of Groucho and was ecstatic that he had the opportunity to portray him.

In high school he was a home run slugger and many felt he would be a great major leaguer.
He does stand up comedy at the resort hotel in Lakewood, New Jersey, where he was a bellhop.
He became highly successful as a financial investor.
