Why he might be annoying:

He may have been conceived after his mother was raped.
He consumed nothing but bread, water and herbs.
He insisted his monks plough their fields without the help of animals.
He also forbad them to own anything.
He punished himself by reading the bible while standing in icy water.
"Taffy," a derogatory nickname for a Welshman, is derived from his name.

Why he might not be annoying:

He helped spread Christianity throughout Wales.
His monasteries feed and sheltered travellers and the poor.
A hill was said to grow beneath his feet when a crowd he was preaching to had trouble seeing and hearing him.
His churches were plundered by the Vikings and later Henry VIII's men.
His final words ‘Do the little things in life’ became a popular Welsh saying.
He advised soldiers to wear leeks to distinguish themselves from the enemy. As a result, leeks are worn on his feast day.
