The Resume

    (August 1, 1985- )
    Born in San Diego, California
Full name is Adam LaMarque Jones
Drafted 37th in the overall 2003 MLB draft
Center fielder for the Seattle Mariners (2006-07) and Baltimore Orioles
    Five-time All-Star (2009,2012-15)
Attested to experiencing racially-charged harassment during a game against the Boston Red Sox (May 1, 2017)
    Twitter handle is 10(@SimplyAJ10)

Why he might be annoying:

He frequently was tasked with getting his teammates 'pied' after their contributions to a winning game.
He kicked off an interview by singing The Weather Girls' 'It's Raining Men' while wearing a dashiki.
Google searches for his name tend to turn up for content related to the lead guitarist for Tool who doubles as a makeup artist.
His name may have resulted in his being mistakenly detained at the Canadian border while traveling to a game in Toronto, in 2010 (presumably confused with the 'Pacman' Bengals cornerback' of the same name's whose track record with the law is somewhat more shaky to say the least).
His claims about being pelted with peanuts at Fenway Park opened a can of worms nobody wanted to deal with ('How could any Bostonians POSSIBLY say something racist?')
For instance, Boston sports reporter Albert Breer tweeted: 'Is it horrible to want some proof? I dunno. I've probably been to 200 games at Fenway in my life. Never heard a slur yelled at a player' (May 2, 2017).
That he had gone on record expressing disappointment that few black baseball players had joined the National Anthem protests the previous year, referring to Baseball as 'a white man’s sport,' was also held against him when he attested initially to being pelted with peanuts and called the 'N-word.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He lists his favorite snack as pretzels.
He received the Silver Slugger award (2013}.
    He is a four-time Gold Glove winner (2009, 2012-14).
Several game attendees corroborated his version of events.
Curt Schilling was attacked on Twitter after all but insinuating that he had lied about being harassed.
He received a formal apology from the Red Sox ownership for his experience.
He received a standing ovation the following game at Fenway, but got ejected from the game the next day for disputing balls and strikes with the Umpire.
He represented the US in the 2017 World Baseball Classic series, playing a crucial role in their winning the overall Championship.
He has tattoos in honor of his grandmother and mother whom he calls 'the two most important women in my life,' and he taps his shoulder whenever crossing the plate after a home run as a tribute.
When asked if he was afraid of financial repercussions for being so vocal he answered: 'I’m not afraid of the backlash, because it’s the truth. It’s my truth through my eyes... As athletes, we do have to be censored in a certain way, but at the same time, if there’s a big issue, and it’s something you stand for, you’ve got to speak out. Because if you’re worried about the backlash, I think silence is just as bad.'
