U.S. Senator

The Resume

    (February 16, 1987- )
    Born in Atlanta, Georgia
Birth name is Thomas Jonathan Ossoff
Documentary film producer and investigative journalist
    Former aide to Hank Johnson
Democratic Party nominee for the U.S. Senate election in Georgia (2020); won run-off election (January 5, 2021)

Why he might be annoying:

He has distanced himself from his party's more progressive platforms.
He has been accused trying to mimic Barack Obama's speech patterns and mannerisms at campaign appearances.
He repeatedly had to fend off the criticism that he didn't reside in the sixth district he was running to represent in 2017.
He lost to Karen Handel (who admitted to not supporting a livable wage in a debate) in the most expensive U.S. House race up to that point.
He and David Perdue both failed to reach the 50% threshold on the November 3 general election, resulting in the two entering a runoff Special election (January 5, 2021).
He tweeted out chicken emojis when Senator Perdue backed out of a December debate (get it - 'Perdue' 'chicken' - heh).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He is of Jewish heritage.
His parents were both political activists (his mom for the ERA, his dad for historical park preservation).
He interned for John Lewis in high school.
He earned a master's degree at the London School of Economics in 2013.
He filmed BBC documentaries about ISIS war crimes and death squads in East Africa.
He broke national fundraising records for a U.S. House candidate.
He would become the youngest Senator in the 117th Congress if elected.
