Why Dearborn, Michigan might be annoying:

    It has been pejoratively called 'Dearbornistan' because of its Arab community and claims that Sharia law is being imposed there.
    During the Ford Hunger March, 2,500 unemployed workers protesting outside the Rouge Plant were shot by the police who killed four workers and injured 60 more. (March 7, 1932)
    During the Battle of the Overpass, Ford Motor Company security guards clashed with members of United Auto Workers near the Rouge Plant, and union leaders Richard Frankensteen and Walter Reuther were photographed beaten and bloodied. (May 26, 1937)
    It is the scene of incidents involving the issues of Islam and free speech, such as Terry Jones's protest outside the Islamic Center of America. (April 7, 2012)
    The area between Dearborn proper and Fordson is largely undeveloped despite some development under Henry Ford.
    It and Dearborn Heights each have one of the worst inteesections in Wayne County in terms of car crashes.

    The local Arab community, dating from the early 1870s, has been credited for contributing to economic growth in the city.
    It is the home of Henry Ford and the site of the Ford Motor Company headquarters.
    It was the site of Ford Airport, which features the world's first concrete runway, the first scheduled U.S. passenger service, first U.S. airport hotel, first contracted airmail service, first radio control for a commercial flight, and first U.S. passenger terminal. (1924-1947)
    The Henry Ford (A.K.A. The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation) is the largest indoor-outdoor museum complex in the United States.
    The Arab American National Museum, opened in 2005, is the first museum in the world devoted to Arab American history and culture.
    The Islamic Center of America is North America's largest mosque and the oldest Shia mosque in the United States.
