Why he might be annoying:

    He faced harsh criticism for constructing a $2.2. million residence.
    He filed a federal lawsuit against D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser over ‘unscientific’ and ‘discriminatory’ restrictions on public worship during the coronavirus pandemic (December 14, 2020).
    He defended his making partisan statements by saying that those criticisms ‘are reminiscent of the criticisms that people gave to Catholic priests and nuns they saw marching during the civil rights period.’
    He criticized Joe Biden’s stance on abortion in 2021, but then canceled the annual Mass for Life held during the March for Life the following year (can you say peer pressure?).

    He is the first African-American cardinal.
    He was the first Black president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
    He criticized rhetoric from President Trump, saying: ‘I fear that recent public comments by our president and others and the responses they have generated, have deepened divisions and diminished our national life.’
    He criticized President Trump for pulling a photo op at St. John's Church in Washington, shortly after tear gassing Black Lives Matter protesters to clear out the area.
    He has been active in advocating for the prevention of child sexual abuse within the church.
