Auto Racer

The Resume

    (October 20, 2002- )
    Born in United Kingdom
Anonymous race car driver and recurring character on 'Top Gear'
Created by Jeremy Clarkson and Andy Wilman
Responsible for setting lap times for cars tested on the show and instructing celebrity guests in the show’s Star in a Reasonably Priced Car section
Also featured in 'Top Gear USA,' 'Top Gear Australia' and 'Top Gear Russia'
Some say he is a professional race car driver, once widely rumored to be Damon Hill or Nigel Mansell, with a mission just to go out there and drive fast
All we know is he’s called The Stig

Why he might be annoying:

The impression was given that there was only one person playing Stig, when there were actually three.
On the show, he revealed himself to Michael Schumacher, but that was just a stunt for that one episode.
It was widely believed that it was Damon Hill, and he joked ‘I’m sick of people asking. I’m thinking of getting a T-shirt that says, ‘No, I’m not the fucking Stig’.
The producers originally wanted to call him ‘The Gimp,’ but McCarthy rejected to being called a character with that name.
Both Ben Collins and Perry McCarthy were sacked for revealing that they were the Stig.
The BBC capitalized on the mystery behind the character by selling merchandise such as stickers and t-shirts reading 'I am The Stig'.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is an icon of the show.
His character, and rumors about him, make 'Top Gear' more interesting.
He is a professional and performs the fast and risky driving safely so the others don’t have to.
Brittan's PM David Cameron arrived at Clarkson's 50th birthday dressed as the Stig.
He emerges from every crash, no matter how horrific, unscratched (staged of course).
He is hugely popular among 'Top Gear' fans and can be recognized by millions of people around the world.
