    Appeared in the films ‘They Call It Sin’ (1932), ‘Baby Face’ (1933), ‘Painted Veil’ (1934), ‘Jezebel’ (1938), ‘The Old Maid’ (1939), ‘Dark Victory’ (1939), ‘The Great Lie’ (1941), ‘Tomorrow Is Forever’ (1946), ‘The Spiral Staircase’ (1946) and ‘Lover Come Back’ (1946)

Why he might be annoying:

    He claimed to born in 1904.
    He was an IRA guerrilla during his youth and fled to the US with a bounty on his head.
    He had short-lived marriages to three actresses: Ruth Chatterton (two years), Ann Sheridan (one year) and Constance Worth (eight months).
    He was considered a wooden actor who was usually cast in ‘women’s pictures’ where he could be counted on not to upstage the female star.
