Why Mexico might be annoying:

    The government is believed to have fixed elections, and the government has gained the reputation as being corrupt.
    A devaluation of the peso in late 1994 put Mexico into economic turmoil, causing the worst recession in over half a century.
    The country has only 11 main lines of telephone service for every 100 people.
    The government is notorious for dumping waste (human and toxic) into the Gulf of Mexico.
    Each year about 2.4 metric tons of opium poppies are cultivated and made into heroin. They are also a major supplier of marijuana to the United States.
    Illegal immigrants constantly sneak across the border into Texas and California.
    They fought the United States in the Mexican-American War.
    Mexican outlaw, Pancho Villa, caused havoc across the border in New Mexico before WW I.
    The movie 'Striptease (1996)' was a blockbuster hit in Mexico.
    They consume more Coca-Cola soft drinks than any other country.
    One in four people in Mexico are obese (one of the highest statistics worldwide).
    When in Mexico, visitors should be carefully drinking the water, it can cause severe diarrhea (Montezuma's revenge).

Why Mexico might not be annoying:

    The nation is wracked by tsunamis along the Pacific coast, volcanoes and severe earthquakes in the center and south, and hurricanes on the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean coasts.
    Natural fresh water resources are scarce and are polluted in the northern part of the country.
    About 27% of the population is below the poverty line.
    Germany was willing to pay the government to invade the United States during WW I (Mexico instead alerted the US).
    They were one of the first nations to sign the Nuclear Test Ban.
    The United States took a lot of their land in the name of 'Manifest Destiny.'
    Mexicans originated mariachi music.
    Santa Ana, a Mexican who was exiled to New York, introduced the United States to chicle (chewing gum).
    The Caesar salad was first prepared by Caesar Cardini in Tijuana, Mexico.
    It's nearer than you think Chicago is closer to Mexico City than it is to San Francisco. Miami is close to Yucatan than Baltimore.
    In Oaxaca there's a 160-foot cypress.
    They have $100,000,000 worth of coffee and $800,000,000 worth of tourists.
