The Resume

    (1884-1923)
    Born in Mexico City, Mexico
Real name was Maria Arias Bernal
    Schoolteacher
    Fought in the Mexican Revolution
Stood guard at the tomb of Francisco Madero armed with a pistol

Why she might be annoying:

Her story has been compounded by myth (she wasn't ever wielding pistols on a battlefield or anything).
Little is known about her life after guarding the tomb of Madero or even her cause of death.
She inspired a historically inaccurate Mexican movie - again depicting her with as a two-gun cowgirl - in 1963 (she was played by Dolores Camarillo).

Why she might not be annoying:

She was active at the start of the Mexican Revolution and left her headmistress job at the school she founded to work as a nurse.
She held protests at Madero's grave to protest the Victoriano Huerta regime.
She was arrested after she caught President Huerta's son Jorge vandalizing Madero's grave and drove him off.
When General Obregon marched into Mexico City in 1914, he praised her, saying: 'Those men who are able to take up arms but refused to do so for fear of abandoning their homes and their children, have no excuse. I abandoned my children without hesitation in order to serve the national cause. As evidence that I am able to admire the valor of others, I hand my pistol to senora Arias, because she is the only one worthy of wielding it; this gun, which has served in defense of the popular interests is as good in her hands as it has been in mine.'
