Why he might be annoying:

His nickname is ‘Fluff.’
He sports a mustache that makes him look like Wilford Brimley.
He smoked a pack of cigarettes a day.
Early in his caddying career, he sometimes had to live out of his car.
He initially expected his teaming with new kid on the block Woods to be temporary while Jacobsen recovered from an injury.
He said about the attention he attracted as Woods’ caddie, ‘It’s all too much. I don’t understand it.’
Woods reportedly fired him for revealing his salary ($1,000 a week, plus bonuses of up to 10% of Woods’ winnings) in an interview with ‘Golf Digest.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He was quarterback of his high school football team.
His advice to Tiger resulted in a significant improvement in Woods’ game after a mediocre amateur career.
Woods said, ‘Fluff has the guts to speak up down the stretch of a tournament and not just be a yes man. I value that opinion.’
A sportswriter estimated that as Woods’ caddie, he was ‘more popular than about 90 percent of the players on the tour.’
He caddied for the first Majors wins of both Woods and Furyk.
