Recorded the albums ''Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished' (2000), 'Danse Manatee' (2001), 'Campfire Songs' (2003), 'Ark' (aka 'Here Comes the Indian,' 2003), 'Sung Tongs' (2004), 'Feels' (2005), 'Strawberry Jam' (2007), 'Merriweather Post Pavilion' (2009), 'Centipede Hz' (2012), 'Painting With' (2016), and 'Time Skiffs' (2022)

Why they might be annoying:

Their first few albums were originally released under the names of the members who played on them.
According to Tare, Southern Records responded to the tapes for 'Spirit They're Gone...' by asking, 'Is there something wrong with this? This music makes our dogs run out of the room.'
They wore masks in concert for several years before giving them up as 'too gimmicky.'
Their music videos usually resemble bad acid trips.

Why they might not be annoying:

Albums released under the band name may include contributions from two to all four members.
A batch of early recordings were lost or stolen while Tare was packing up to change apartments (2000).
They were the first band given permission to sample the Grateful Dead, incorporating a sample from 'Unbroken Chain' into their song 'What Would I Want? Sky.'
According to Metacritic, 'Merriweather Post Pavilion' was the best-reviewed studio album of 2009.
