The Resume

    (January 13, 1979-September 5, 1987)
    Syndicated
    Created by Merv Griffin
Hosted by Deney Terrio (1979–1985) and Adrian Zmed (1985–1987)
Theme performed by Triple S Connection
Three celebrity judges per episode grade the dancing skills of a male-female couple; the highest average score advances to the next level

Why Dance Fever might be annoying:

Two female dancers simply called ‘Motion’ were featured at the start of the episode, but seldom beyond.
Not all celebrity judges were individuals; some were couples.
What was with that Freeman King guy, anyway?
One judge arbitrarily gave all the evening’s couples 99 points each (the maximum score is 100).
It spawned a horrid 2003 remake (featuring Carmen Electra).

Why Dance Fever might not be annoying:

It survived well after the disco ball was pronounced dead.
The judges were of almost all age ranges.
A popular artist would perform during every episode except for one — when the grand prize was up for grabs.
You could sometimes see the female contestants’ underpants — particularly if her partner spun her long and fast enough.
    You've got 90 seconds… show 'em what you've got.
