Why he might be annoying:

He had children out of wedlock with Vanessa Redgrave (1969) and Mauricia Mena (1987).
He finally married Redgrave four decades after they had a child (2006).
He said on returning to Italy, 'If they made me stay in Hollywood a month longer, I would have committed suicide.'
His accent was so thick in 'Camelot' that reportedly several of his lines had to be dubbed along with his songs.
