    Recorded 'Gotta Gimme Whatcha Got' (1946), 'Snatch and Grab It' (1947), 'King Size Papa' (1948) and 'At First I Didn't Like It (The Spinach Song)' (1949)

Why she might be annoying:

    She started performing as a child.
    Her hits were double entendres, or as she put it 'the songs my mother taught me not to sing.'
    Her reluctance to tour limited her success.

Why she might not be annoying:

    'Snatch and Grab It' topped the R&B charts for 12 weeks, while 'King Size Papa' was #1 for 9 weeks.
    She said about her refusal to leave Kansas City, 'If you're not happy, there's no percentage in the big money.'
    In one of her rare forays from Kansas City, she played the annual White House Correspondents' dinner at President Truman's request.
