    Wrote 'The Aeolian Harp (1795),' 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (1797),' 'Christabel (1797),' 'Kubla Khan (1798)' and 'Dejection: An Ode (1802)'
    Known as 'Col'

Why he might be annoying:

    He was addicted to opium and alcohol, and sniffed nitrous oxide for fun.
    He joined the army to escape from his debts, but his family got him discharged by pretending he was insane.
    He once tried to found a progressive commune, but it flopped.
    He married a woman he didn't love.
    Both his wife and mistress were named Sara.
    To keep them straight, he called his mistress 'Asra.'
    He eventually abandoned his family.

Why he might not be annoying:

    In addition to poetry, he wrote intelligent essays on many subjects.
    His baby son died of a reaction to smallpox vaccine.
    His poem 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' can be sung to the tune of the 'Gilligan's Island' theme.
