Why Lost might be annoying
There are polar bears on this South Pacific island, but polar bears are only indigenous to the North Pole. They are explained as being part of a scientific expedition, but yet they are able to survive more than a decade in a tropical climate without their primary food source, seal.
The plane that crashes is an Australian Oceanic airliner. Everyone who has seen 'Rainman' knows Australia's national airline, Qantas, never had a fatal accident.
They don't say if it was truly an accident or a terrorist bomb.
The airline allowed an eight month pregnant woman to fly.
A drug addicted rocker was able to smuggle heroin onto the plane.
A man in a wheelchair, not only gets back the use of his legs but becomes a commando within moments of crashing on the island.
A doctor with no equipment revived the life of a hanged man.
A guy, Sawyer, who hoards things from the others, is not attacked by the mob of survivors.
A Korean woman who doesn't speak English becomes fluent in English, explaining she took English lessons behind her husband's back.
There is an incestuous storyline between step-siblings.
Jorge Garcia missed his sister's wedding to shoot an episode.
Because of Hawaii's high-tech 100% tax credit, the show is filmed in Hawaii. Hawaii is looking to close that loophole.
It's ironic that the pilots are killed in the pilot episode.
Why Lost might not be annoying
The show is critically praised for being unique, mixing drama, suspense, sci-fi and mystery.
A typical episode focuses on a character on the island and through flashback, their life before the crash.
The beauty of the show is that there are many explanations for what is happening.
It could be an alien experiment, UFO abduction, government/scientific experiment, Bermuda triangle effect, they are dead, in hell, in purgatory, coma, in shock or delusion, time/dimension travel, a dream, someone's imagination, a drug hallucination, the twilight zone, etc.
The show creators claim that the show will unfold realistic explanations that don't depend on supernatural occurrences.
Most of the survivors are not just good looking and fit, but all have interesting pasts.
TV Guide previewed it by saying: 'If viewers discover it, they'll want to come back' (September 12, 2004).
Entertainment Weekly said: 'It is a clearly a series to last a long, long time'
The role of Sun was created for Yoon-jin Kim who originally auditioned for Kate.
Charlie's tattoo 'Living is easy with eyes closed,' is a line from The Beatles' 'Strawberry Fields.'
John Locke is named for the British philosopher of the same name and Danielle Rousseau for French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Locke theorized before our society that man was cooperative, content and lived in bliss. Rousseau believed man is noble but society corrupts him.
The first episode after the pilot was titled 'Tabula Rasa' (Latin for blank slate) and part of John Locke's philosophy.
