    He initially planned to play baseball, before choosing hockey full time.
    He jumped into the stands at Madison Square Garden during a game and physically assaulted a Rangers fan (December 23, 1979).
    He earned a six game suspension as a result of his actions.
    He was injury prone during the later stages of his career.
    His signing with the Devils was done out of nepotism, as his father was the team's general manager at the time.

    He is the son of longtime NHL executive Max McNab.
    He was among one of the first known players to reach the NHL coming out of the NCAA ranks.
    He played in three consecutive Stanley Cup Finals (1975-77).
    He served as the color commentator for the Avalanche from the inaugural season following the relocation from Quebec City.
    He served as the play-by-play announcer for three Winter Olympics games.
    He was able to do his play-by-play duties during the Avalanche's Stanley Cup championship run, while doing cancer treatments at the same time.
