The Resume

    (March 12, 1914-July 15, 1958)
Born in Liverpool, England, United Kingdom
    Birth name was Julia Stanley
    Married Alfred 'Alf' Lennon (1938)
    Mother of John Lennon

Why she might be annoying:

Her sisters considered her frivolous and unreliable.
She would go to bed wearing makeup so she would 'look beautiful when she woke up.'
While Alf was away at sea during WWII, she conducted an affair with a Welsh soldier, and had a daughter out of wedlock, who she gave up for adoption (1945).
She lived as the common-law wife of Bobby Dykins without ever divorcing Alf.
Under pressure from her family, who disapproved of her and Dykins 'living in sin,' she handed care of John over to her sister, Mimi Smith.

Why she might not be annoying:

Dykins was a violent drunk who beat her.
She taught John how to play banjo and ukelele and bought him his first guitar.
In his teens, John would frequently stay overnight at her and Dykins' house.
She encouraged John to continue with music over Mimi Smith's objections.
She was struck and killed by a car driven by an off-duty police officer.
She inspired several of John's songs, notably 'Julia' and 'Mother.'
