    During a carriage ride home from a theatrical triumph, his wife asked him 'When are you going to stop embarrassing yourself like this?'
    He jumped out of the carriage and never spoke to her again.
    He starred in a play written by his son called 'Peter the Great' that was a financial disaster.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He had a famous acting partnership with Ellen Terry, one of the greatest actresses of the 19th century and Great Aunt to John Gielgud.
    His last line on stage was 'Into thy hands, oh Lord, into thy hands,' and died that evening in his hotel.
    He was the first actor to be knighted.
