Why he might be annoying:

From 1967-74, his band's name was Oister.
When a record company changed the name to the Dwight Twilley Band, it alienated Seymour (who quit in 1978).
He is a two hit wonder.
His follow up single to 'I'm On Fire,' was supposed to be the 1975 song 'Shark (in the Dark)' and was sung on American Bandstand, but his record company nixed it for fear of being labeled a novelty song riding the 'Jaws' coattails.
He went through several record companies, which caused some of his recordings to fall into limbo.

Why he might not be annoying:

He and Seymour met and decided they wanted to be rock stars after watching The Beatles' 'A Hard Day's Night' in a Tulsa theatre.
Jerry Phillips, son of Sun Records legend Sam Phillips, introduced him to the 'Sun sound,' which gave his music a rougher and more unique quality.
'I'm on Fire' reached #16 on Billboard's Singles chart in 1975 with virtually no promotion.
He befriended Tom Petty and the two have sang background vocals on each other's records.
His solo effort 'Girls' reached #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984, nine years after his last hit.
His friend and former bandmate Phil Seymour lost a battle with lymphoma in 1993 at age 41.
