Why he might be annoying:

    He was reportedly on the short list of potential Obama running mates until he announced he had 'no interest' in the position.
    He also turned down multiple offers to be Obama's Secretary of Defense.
    He serves on the Senate banking committee while accepting campaign contributions from JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon.
    He supported providing US military aid to Saudi Arabia during its invasion of Yemen (2018), then reversed himself a year later.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He commanded a company of paratroopers.
    He was one of 23 Senators who voted against authorizing the use of force in Iraq (2003), later saying, 'It was a flawed strategy that diverted attention and resources away from hunting down Osama bin Laden's terrorist network.'
    He was one of the first politicians to sound the alarm about a lack of body armor for soldiers in Iraq.
    He and John McCain jointly won the Jacob K. Javits Prize for Bipartisan Leadership for their work together on the Senate Armed Services Committee (2018).
