Why he might be annoying:

He hated his nickname.
As a literary agent, he was known for rarely bothering to read the manuscripts he sold.
He said, 'I frequent sell for people I don't represent. Every good writer has two agents - their own and Lazar.'
When traveling by car, he would stop at hospitals to use their bathrooms, since they were cleaner than gas stations or restaurants.
A hotel in Switzerland refused to let him return, because he had swamped their switchboard during his first stay.

He got his nickname after winning a bet by closing three deals for Humphrey Bogart in a single day.
He organized 'Winged Victory' on Broadway, and earned over $5 million for the Air Corps relief fund during World War II.
He sold the rights for Neil Simon's yet-to-written 'The Odd Couple' based on a one-sentence description of the plot.
His post-Oscar parties were more prestigious than the official parties held by the Academy.
