The Resume

    (1961- )
    Born in Los Angeles, California
    Original members:
    Jim Pike, first tenor
    Tony Butala, second tenor
    Bob Engemann, baritone
Recorded the singles ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ (1961), ‘When I Fall in Love’ (1962), ‘Come Back Silly Girl’ (1962), ‘Theme from ‘A Summer Place’’ (1965), ‘Goin’ Out of My Head/Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You’ (1967), and ‘Hurt So Bad’ (1969)

Why they might be annoying:

They borrowed their name from an earlier trio Butala had been in as part of a Las Vegas revue show.
They got an audition at Capitol Records because Bob Engemann’s older brother Karl was president of the label’s A&R department.
They and Anita Bryant were headliners at a Rally for Decency (March 23, 1969) held in response to Jim Morrison’s arrest for indecent exposure.
They continued performing after the retirement of the last original member, Tony Butala, in 2019.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were known for their lush harmonies.
    They earned eleven gold records.
They recorded a couple of Top 40 hits in the late-1960s psychedelic era, despite their traditional pop sound being considered outdated.
They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame (2001).
