    He performed in various bands, before landing with the Tennessee River Boys (who would later become Diamond Rio).
    He worked as a tour bus driver on the side, while he was a member of some small-time bands.
    He is credited with coming up with the Diamond Rio name, which he got from the Diamond Reo Trucking company (but deliberately misspelled to avoid copyright infringement).
    He married country singer/songwriter Stephanie Bentley in 2001.
