Why he might be annoying:

He was arrested for illegal weapons possession while running guns to Cuba (1958).
He participated in several attempts to assassinate Fidel Castro.
His anti-Castro activities were reportedly financed by mobsters Meyer Lansky and Santos Trafficante.
Several conspiracy theorists think he participated in the JFK assassination.
After Watergate, he sued the Committee to Re-Elect the President, claiming they had misled him into believing the break-in was sanctioned by the government.

Why he might not be annoying:

He served in the Marines during World War II.
He was a die-hard anti-Communist.
He said Watergate ultimately benefited the nation because, 'I feel that the laws that came about after Watergate didn't give the President - whether Nixon or anybody else - the free rein to do what a dictator would do.'
