Auto Racer

The Resume

    (April 2, 1926-May 19, 2014)
    Born in Hurtsville, Australia
    Three-time Formula One champion (1959,1960,1966)
Founded the Brabham race team and car manufacturer (1960)
Inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame (1990)

Why he might be annoying:

He was initially interested only in building a car but not driving, saying that the drivers 'were all lunatics.'
After his retirement from F1 racing, he reluctantly moved to a farm at the insistence of his wife, who hoped to keep their sons away from motorsports. (It didn't work: all three sons took up auto racing.)
He lost most of his hearing from years of racing without adequate ear protection.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a mechanic with the Royal Australian Air Force during WWII.
He was the only Formula One driver to win the championship in a car of his own construction (1966).
He was the first driver knighted for services to motorsports (1979).
