    He, along with teammates Alexei Kovalev, Sergei Zubov and Sergei Nemchinov become the first Russian born players to have their names engraved on the Stanley Cup (1994).
    He was considered a smooth defenseman during his prime years.
    He played for the famous Dynamo Moscow program before making the jump to the NHL.
    He pursued a career in coaching following his retirement from active play.
    Despite having limited knowledge of English, he adapted to American culture quickly.
